Ross was jealous of Mark at work, Rachel had had enough of the jealousy so asked for a break. I get that she had had enough, but it is a little understandable that he may be jealous. If my partner was jealous I'd like to think I'd try and find out why and how we can work through it rather than breaking up.
Ross then called Rachel to apologise and guess who is there having Chinese dinner in her apartment hours after they broke up, yes Mark. If that had happened to me I'd assume the worst too, naturally the guy was devastated not only had he in his mind lost the girl he loved but she was also with the guy he hated.
It amazes me that that was never addressed that the only thing that mattered was Ross. Rachel broke up with him, Rachel had someone else in her apartment within hours of them breaking up. To me that is a break up not a break and for that I'd say Ross was in the clear, Rachel should suck it up and stop acting the victim and see her part in it all.
