How to reject an invoice for council tax or any other invoice

So many people don't realise that you can in fact reject any invoice that comes your way. If I was to send you an invoice for £1,000 would you pay it, if so email me at sales@top-bannana.com and I will send you one with details on where to pay. Any sane person would reject it, probably return it to me. Just because I say you owe me something doesn't actually mean you do. It is the same with council tax, this simple rebuttal, covers it all. Return it to their accounts department with the invoice.

Write on the invoice REJECTED in red pen or buy a stamp if you want it to look more professional.

Subject: Rejection of Council Tax Bill [Reference Number]

Dear [Council Name] Council Tax Department,

I hereby reject your invoice/bill referenced [Reference Number] dated [Date].

I do not consent to any liability, nor do I accept any obligation to pay. No contract exists between myself and [Council Name] that would compel me to do so.

Please update your records accordingly and cease any further demands.
